Description
The Vine Christian School
The school is situated in the most beautiful town of George in the Southern Cape, in the midst of the Garden Route.
The Vine Christian School has grown to such an extent over the last two years,
That the premises the school at present has become totally inadequate. The excellent curriculum and high standard of Christian education the school offers, is in overwhelming demand.
The school offers the complete alternative to deteriorating educational standards experienced around us at present.
The Vine Christian School and the growth of George as a town
It is said that George is one of the fastest growing towns in S.A. The schools in George already experience an overload of students.
The Vine has also partially grown as a result of transfers from other ACE-schools in the country, and secondly, grown because of parents searching for solid Christian education for their children in George. The latter reason mainly constitutes the growth of The Vine.
The Vine therefore has the potential to grow rapidly once larger premises are obtained.
The Vine Christian School- History
The School celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2007. It follows the ACE-curriculum (Accelerated Christian Education), which is internationally taught and acknowledged.
There are many ACE-schools in South Africa. The Vine has 120 students from grade o to grade 12, 12 teachers and 2 administrative staff members.
There are people with open hearts who already sponsor a percentage of under privileged students at The Vine.
The school is an non profit organization and is registered in terms of the school’s act as an independent school. Students graduating from our system are “hunted’ and welcomed by not only South African universities, but also abroad.
The school is now ready to break through to the next phase. The so-called groundwork has been done. The school becomes increasingly known and popular in George and surrounding areas.
Management
The school has a principle, assisted by an administrator, a secretary and 12 teachers. A governing body is elected of school parents. The governing body has various portfolios namely, the chairman, property, sport, marketing, finances and administrative. The principle is represented on all the portfolios.
An annual general meeting is held every year, and every second year governing body members are re-elected.
The school is managed in a very responsible way and decisions made are carefully considered and communicated to all parties. Parent involvement is constantly encouraged. The Vision
The vision of The Vine is to be the best Christian school in George in terms of academic and disciplinary standards, and to provide students with the best facilities and study environment possible.
Mission Statement
The Vine’s mission is to provide high quality Christian education. To thoroughly prepare our students, academically and spiritually for life, and to send students from our school into the world to make a difference for Jesus Christ in the workplace, at tertiary institutions, in their churches and in the community where they dwell.
Services
The Vine follows the ACE-curriculum. The S.A. government acknowledge the curriculum and ACE-students perform extremely well at university levels.
The curriculum provides for individualised training where students benefit from the personalised attention in the classroom.
Statutory requirements
The school is registered in terms of the schools act as an independent school. The curriculum is in line with requirements for students to obtain a grade 12-certficate.
This certificate and the SAT Tests provide entrance to tertiary institutions in S.A. Universities, because of the excellent education in the ACE system.
The school is registered with UMALUZI, the body that overseas quality education in the country. Registration standards are high and the school provided all the information and met all the standards that were required.
Teachers must all be SACE registered according to statutory requirements. (This body oversees teacher qualification standards.) This process is ongoing and will soon be finalised.
From the ACE head office’s perspective, the school has achieved silver status consistently. The school is in terms of this status given the full mandate to provide education from grade R to 12. The status also puts the head office’s seal on the quality of education presented by the school.
