Known as “Strawberry Country”. RedBerry Farm is the first beacon that greets tourists along the beautiful Outeniqua Country Hop Route where one is lured in by the sweet aroma of ripe berries.
Friendly staff will greet you and once you’ve made a choice of what container to use you will be guided to the “pick your own fields” taking a carefree walk though the farm with the majestic Outeniqua mountains in the background. The best time for juicy sweet strawberry picking is from August to January although Redberry Farm does pride itself in having strawberries year round. Friendly staff are always keen to answer your questions and share about the inner secrets of a strawberry.
A bulging container is a sure sign that the harvest is plentiful and one will quickly discover that the sweetest strawberry is the one that is hand picked and eaten at room temperature. Once your container is filled you can head to the tea garden and indulge in the most delicious farm fresh treats. The tea and scones are an experience that is not be missed where the oven-fresh scones are topped with farm butter, home made strawberry preserve and fresh clotted cream. There is also a well equipped play ground and play area for the children.
The farmstall shelves are lined with products and a strawberry theme permeates the building where one can browse through the deli and other unique products. Strawberry punnets at bargain prices, strawberry liqueur, strawberry jam, strawberry syrup and many other preserves will get you through any withdrawal symptoms you may have when you leave Redberry Farm.
